Jane
very much enjoys teaching doll-making
to students at all levels. About once a year she is
able to schedule a two to five day workshop on skills
such as sculpting, mould-making or miniature dress-making.
All techniques are covered thoroughly so that the
student can continue to progress at home.
Generally these workshops are organised by a dealer, collector
or doll-maker for a group of friends. If you are interested
in setting up a workshop contact Jane for details.
Jane’s current workshop is to sculpt a 14-jointed,1/12th
scale child.
This is modelled in Paperclay over a resin “skeleton”-
a construction method suitable for doll-makers with
a little experience, or even a keen beginner. The
technique allows the student to develop his or her
own style to produce their own original doll.
This workshop takes 4-5 days depending on how long
the students work each day. At the end of the last
day I expect students to be able to “play”with
their completed dolls, finding out how very poseable
they can be.
